Group has signatures; seeks Nevada wage hike
Source: Associated Press, Tahoe Daily Tribune [California]
Date: June 14, 2004
Advocates of a higher minimum wage in Nevada said Thursday
they'll easily top the minimum signature count needed by Tuesday to advance their proposed constitutional
amendment for a $6.15 base wage, $1 more than the federal standard. The Progressive Leadership Alliance of
Nevada, the Nevada AFL-CIO, the Citizenship Project and other organizations joined in the move to get the
minimum wage plan on the November ballot. If it wins voter approval this year, the plan would have to pass
again in 2006 in order to amend the Nevada Constitution.
