Over opposition from business lobbyists who said it could lead
to layoffs, a Senate labor panel narrowly approved a $1 boost to [Louisiana]'s minimum wage for workers. The
bill by Sen. Cleo Fields, D-Baton Rouge, would increase the minimum wage from the $5.15 per hour federal level
to $6.15 per hour.
