Legislative committee kills bill on workplace meetings
Source: Associated Press, Hartford Courant
Date: March 28, 2006
In a victory for businesses, a legislative committee on Monday killed
a bill that would have prohibited companies from requiring employees to attend meetings in which management
offered up political or religious messages. Opponents said the legislation, known informally as the captive
audience bill in reference to compulsory workplace meetings on politics, religion and unions, was hostile to
business as Connecticut seeks to attract more employers.
